Health Careers Teacher - 1.0 FTE at Career & Technical Education Academy

The CTE Academy is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Health Careers Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be responsible for instructing students in health science education pathways, preparing them for postsecondary education and careers in the healthcare industry. This position blends academic instruction with hands‑on learning and career readiness skills aligned with State Career and Technical Educational standards.

Candidates must be a registered nurse.

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans focused on health science, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, healthcare ethics, CPR/First Aid, and other relevant topics.
• Prepare students for certification exams such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and CPR.
• Coordinate and supervise clinical and/or health care internships with local healthcare partners.
• Collaborate with other educators, counselors, and industry professionals to support student success.
• Plan instructional tasks that are meaningful and related to learning goals.
• Implement district curriculum, maintain instructional focus, communicate expectations, and adapt instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Establish classroom rules and procedures, enforce them consistently, and create a positive learning environment.
• Participate in professional growth opportunities and demonstrate professionalism, including completion of routine assigned tasks and compliance with district requirements.
• Support district goals, report student progress to parents and students, and perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree and endorsements in the area of teaching assignment.
• Current, valid South Dakota teaching certificate with one of the following endorsements:
  Diagnostic Services Career Pathway, Health Science Career Cluster, or Therapeutic and Support Services Career Pathway.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management.
• Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
• Demonstrated skills in the use of technology to enhance student learning.
• Hand‑eye and mind‑eye coordination; constant hearing; intermittent speaking, standing, walking, and writing.
• Frequent carrying, keyboarding, and other repetitive motions.

• Salary: $53,981 to $60,793 per year, based on experience.
• Pay day:
  Last working day of each month.
• Schedule:
  
  Monday through Friday, 7:15 am to 3:45 pm.
• Full‑time: 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 9 months.
