Position: Developmental Specialist - 1.0 FTE at the Learning Lab

Developmental Specialist

EDUCATION LEVEL:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, or related areas.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED: A minimum of 1-year successful experience working with young children.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires constant hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination; intermittent keyboarding, sitting, and lifting. Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; standing, walking, and carrying.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent oral and written skills. Computer competency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases. Demonstrated ability to work well with others including colleagues and parents. Understanding of children's development.

COMPREHENSIVE BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENT:
Candidates are required to complete a comprehensive background check, including a state and FBI criminal history check with fingerprinting, a sex offender registry check, and a child abuse and neglect registry check. All components must be completed prior to the start of employment and repeated every five years thereafter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  • Works with supervisor or teacher to determine guidance for implementing a screen or other student lesson and determining guidelines for further action.
  • Develops materials, including parent information materials, appropriate forms, data tracking documents and student activities.
  • Assists in the development of special education files for adequate information and organization to assure compliance.
  • Prepares reports and submits to supervisor as requested.
  • Assists with data entry as needed to track information.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of students and their families.
  • Maintains records.
  • Participates in training activities provided by the district.
  • Completes developmental screens in accordance with district approved programs of study.
  • Participates in parent conferences and communicates with parents on a routine basis keeping them informed of their child's development and activities to promote development.
  • Establishes student success as a primary goal and provides an opportunity for all students to experience success.
  • Provides for the well-being, health, and safety of all students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • PAY INFORMATION

    Starting at $23.62 per hour

    Pay Day:
    Last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.

    HOURS & FTE

    Monday through Friday

    1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 9 months

    CALENDAR Month - 248 Day Calendar
