The LSS Center for New Americans seeks an ESL Instructor with a love for teaching and a passion to serve refugee and immigrant adult English Learners.

HOURS:On-Call. Schedule depending upon need. Typical hours for teaching opportunities are between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. May also include weekend opportunities

SALARY: Depends on experience and qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide English as a Second Language, vocational English and/or citizenship instruction to refugee and immigrant adults. Maintain class attendance and teach classes with the plans and materials provided. May be called on to prepare lesson plans for long‑term substitute teaching assignments. Maintain regular communication with supervisor regarding availability for any upcoming subbing opportunities. Communicate with regular instructor about class content covered.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be enthusiastic, well‑organized and reliable. Must have cross‑cultural experience and an ability to communicate with limited English speakers. Must be flexible and able to teach English to beginning level students with limited previous formal education.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English or related field and one year of teaching experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification or Master’s degree in TESOL, is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to submit to record checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, distributing drugs or sex crimes.
