Wastewater Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager — Sioux Falls, SD

This individual will be responsible for pursuing new projects, leading teams of junior engineers, and maintaining and growing client relationships.

- Provide professional services for wastewater engineering projects, including design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub‑consultants and contractors
- Provide professional services for the design and construction of wastewater collection systems, and wastewater treatment facilities
- Work within multi‑discipline projects that include civil, electrical, and architectural aspects
- Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities
- Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
- Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments and maintain quality client relationships and communication
- Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings
- Provide guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and other project team members
- Gather critical data to assist clients with project financing and funding development
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (ideal) or ability to obtain within 3 months
- 6+ years of experience in municipal civil engineering with a strong interest in the wastewater market sector
- Ability to travel as required for business development and project/client responsibilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Maintain stellar reputation for integrity, fairness, reliability, good judgment and aptitude among peers, management, and staff
- All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
- Design work and knowledge with wastewater treatment and collection systems, utility planning, and other municipal infrastructure
- Experience leading both internal initiatives and external projects
- Ability to multi‑task and effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
- May be required to wear PPE (flame resistant clothing, hard hat, protective footwear)
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
- May be required to travel to off‑site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
