If you are looking for a direct succession path to a Plant Manager seat within a stable, global organization, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a high-impact, hands‑on Manufacturing Engineering Manager to take absolute ownership of our process, tooling, and capital projects. In this role, you will serve as the second most important leader in our facility, working closely with our Vice President of Operations. This is not a passive desk job. It is a strategic, high‑visibility leadership role with a direct, defined succession path to the Plant Manager seat.
Our facility operates in a complex, low‑volume, high‑mix environment where we manage over 3,000 active part numbers annually. We need a structured, critical thinker who can lead our engineering team, establish clear project timelines, and drive key automation initiatives to completion without needing daily oversight. If you are ready to make a measurable impact on our operations and fast‑track your career, we want to hear from you.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Own the Process:
Determine, review, and optimize all manufacturing processes for cost‑effectiveness and feasibility from start to finish. - Lead and Mentor:
Supervise and develop our Manufacturing Engineering team, establishing a culture of professional accountability and independent execution. - Drive Capital Projects:
Investigate, justify, purchase, and track key capital assets and supervise the design and construction of tooling. - Accelerate Automation:
Lead major, high‑priority projects including our robotic welding integration and production line expansions. - Coordinate Cross‑Functionally:
Manage plant layouts, coordinate outside contractors, and align with Quality and Production teams to streamline administrative processes.
- B.S. in Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience in the manufacturing engineering field.
- Five to seven years of hands‑on management experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering.
- A proven track record of process ownership, including defining manufacturing steps, routings, and settings standards.
- Strong project management, project planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to drive capital projects to completion.
- Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, metal forming, assembly, or HVAC manufacturing environments.
- Direct experience with robotic welding integration, plant layout modifications, or heat exchanger manufacturing is highly desirable.
We offer a stable, long‑term career opportunity with the resources of a global leader and the supportive, trust‑based culture of a family‑owned business. This fully onsite role in Mitchell, South Dakota, offers a competitive base salary of $115,000 to $125,000, comprehensive lump‑sum relocation assistance, and a direct path to plant leadership.
