Johnson Controls is seeking a HVAC Controls Engineer to design, configure, and operate building control systems across our global portfolio.

- Under general direction, responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems with a focus on HVAC Controls to meet project requirements.
- Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs.
- Develop complex software programs, commission, and troubleshoot to ensure proper operation of the building control system.
- Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team, and subcontractors.
- Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
- Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per project intent.
- Coordinate creation of drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
- Select, order, and track delivery of materials for assigned projects.
- Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
- Assist in loading and commissioning of system and network‑level controllers.
- Validate system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades.
- Provide field change information to the project team for as‑built drawings and software.
- Keep management and contractor or customer informed of progress and issues.
- Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
- Participate in release meetings with the project field team.
- Perform value engineering to deliver cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of three years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the HVAC industry, control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
- Experience in integration of low‑voltage building sub‑systems using industry protocols such as LON, Bac Net, etc.
- Ability to explain technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with drafting tools.
- Minimum of five years of experience for the stated qualifications, or an associate degree with seven years of relevant experience.
- Travel to job sites outside the area as needed to support customer needs.
Hiring salary range: $67,900-$101,900 USD. Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, ability, internal equity, and market data. Includes competitive benefits package.
