Dakota Bio Worx (dakotabioworx.org) is a bioprocess pilot facility located in the Research Park at South Dakota State University. Dakota Bio Worx was built to close the growing pilot-facility availability gap that is increasing as the global bioeconomy grows through bioproduct innovation. We are seeking an experienced Bioprocess Engineer (on site) to support the on-boarding and execution of client bioprocesses at the laboratory though pilot scales including precision fermentation and downstream processing.

Dakota Bio Worx's Operations Manager, but works close with the Chief Scientific Officer

• Bachelor of science in Biochemical Engineering, Life Science, or equivalent in bioprocess-related fields such as Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology.
• Three to five years' experience in the bioprocessing field or process engineering in a bioproduct's field.
• Experience with R&D AND pilot-scale equipment and unit operations (e.g. bioreactors, continuous centrifugation, tangential flow filtration, high pressure homogenization, spray drying, etc.).
• Strong ability to trouble shoot and problem solve.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and complete high-quality projects with attention to detail amidst tight timelines.
• Excellent internal and client-facing communication skills with the ability to discuss complex technical concepts with a variety of audiences.
• A positive and intellectually curious team player who embraces the challenges and excitement of Dakota Bio Worx's mission.

• Operation of lab- and pilots-scale bioprocessing equipment, including bioreactors, continuous-flow centrifuges, homogenizers, filtration systems, and spray dryers.
• Client consultation & collaboration for bioprocess on-boarding, development, and scale-up.
• Develop, update, and carry out standard operating procedures for bioprocess equipment.
• Preparation and presentation of internal and client technical reports, data summaries, protocols, etc. as needed.
• Perform regular maintenance on fermentation & processing equipment as required.
• Perform as a subject
  -matter expert in the bioprocessing field by keeping up to date with current literature and industry standards in precision fermentation and bioprocessing.
