Plant Engineering Director
Location:
Sioux Falls, SD
Salary: $160-210K plus bonus
Job Summary of the Plant Engineering Director:
As the leader of Maintenance and Engineering in a fast-paced facility, you will oversee optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime. Implementing advanced techniques such as Preventative and Predictive Maintenance and TPM will drive our facility towards optimal performance.
Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Plant Engineering Director:
- Oversee capital projects from inception to completion—ensuring they are on time and within budget, without compromising safety, food safety, or environmental standards.
- Manage all stages to minimize operational disruptions and enhance plant capabilities through strategic, impactful enhancements.
- Develop and execute advanced maintenance strategies—including Preventive and Predictive Maintenance and TPM—to optimize operational performance.
- Lead and motivate the maintenance team by delegating tasks effectively, enforcing policies, and prioritizing safety.
- Solve daily operational challenges with a proactive approach to minimize recurring issues and maintain smooth production.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators that measure maintenance success.
- Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams through coaching, performance management, and collaboration with HR. Foster a culture of safety, communication, and recognition while building a diverse, empowered workforce.
Education & Experience Requirements of the Plant Engineering Director:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with 10+ years of experience in Engineering management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with 8+ years of relevant experience, will be considered.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, including team development and management, required.
- Possess advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields and can lead resource planning in a large manufacturing setting.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, and maintenance strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal, technical, and presentation skills.
- May require long hours and weekend work.
- Familiarity with pork products and the Meat Industry is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
