JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES As the Biofuels Regulatory Program Specialist, you will support the corporate carbon reduction strategy for state and federal biofuel regulatory programs. This includes but is not limited to: compliance activities for the federal Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS), state specific Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS), and international renewable energy standards. You will constantly be seeking out new low carbon opportunities from federal, state, and international biofuel program incentives.
Once opportunities are identified, you then develop economic and carbon scoring models to help gauge the financial impact of any new strategies and create programs to ensure full compliance once commercialized. You will engage with a cross section of the POET business network, including POET Biofuels, POET Legal, POET Research, POET Bioproducts, and POET Bioprocessing. In addition, you support communication between POET and the applicable regulatory agencies.
The preferred location for this role is Wichita, KS office. The role can also report out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Responsibilities include:
Regularly surveying the federal, state, and international biofuels programs for opportunities to implement carbon intensity reduction strategies.
Support of the bioprocessing facilities regarding their participation in federal, state, and international biofuel programs (e.g. EPA RFS, California’s LCFS, EU Renewable Energy Directive, Inflation Reduction Act).Understanding regulations associated with the federal, state, and international biofuels programs.
Performing extensive and detailed carbon intensity modeling using various Green House Gas models.
Establishing economic models to assess and predict the financial impacts of implementing carbon intensity reduction strategies at the bioprocessing facilities.
Supporting independent third-party auditors used for biofuels program oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS1+ year of experience in any compliance, financial analysis, or engineering field.
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering is required.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and modeling.
Enjoy working on high profile initiatives in a cross functional team setting that provide value to the business.
Passion around being a part of significantly improving the carbon footprint of the bioprocessing facilities.
Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and the ability to learn new programs.
Knowledge and understanding of data management and basic programing theories.
