Primary PurposeWe are seeking an experienced, relationship-focused Trust Officer to manage trusts, estates, and other fiduciary accounts while helping grow and deepen client relationships.
This role combines technical fiduciary knowledge with client service, business development, risk management, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is client-focused, analytical, detail-oriented, and confident making sound decisions while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality.
What This Role Looks LikeYou will serve as a trusted relationship manager for a book of fiduciary clients, overseeing trust and estate administration while identifying opportunities to deepen relationships and develop new business. You will partner with clients, professional advisors, internal business partners, and the market team to deliver a strong client experience and expand Cornerstone relationships.
Success in this role requires strong fiduciary expertise, exceptional communication skills, sound judgment, business‑development acumen, and the ability to identify and manage risk in a collaborative environment.
Trust & Fiduciary Administration- Manage trusts, estates, and other fiduciary accounts for clients within an assigned book of business.
- Combine technical fiduciary knowledge with client discovery to enhance and deepen existing client relationships.
- Maintain current knowledge of and comply with applicable laws and regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate potential risk issues and engage appropriate internal personnel as needed.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to Trust Administration support staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community contacts and professional advisors to identify and win new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of clients and opportunities through referrals from current clients, internal business partners, and centers of influence.
- Partner with the market team to develop strategies and marketing programs designed to enhance the client experience.
- Serve as an ambassador of Trust Administration and Cornerstone Private Asset Trust Company, LLC in the Sioux Falls market.
- Represent Cornerstone in the community through leadership opportunities, which may include service on one or more nonprofit boards.
- Mentor and support team members on trust and estate products and services.
- Collaborate with Trust Administration support staff and internal partners to deliver coordinated client service.
- Use sound judgment and clear communication when making fiduciary decisions and addressing client needs.
- Contribute to a team environment grounded in accountability, professionalism, and client focus.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four to nine years of trust and fiduciary experience with an emphasis on client service, business development, and trust administration.
- Advanced degree or professional certification such as J.D., CTFA, or CPA preferred.
- Local market experience preferred.
