Position Overview:
Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Clinical Unit Supervisor to manage activities in a trauma informed manner, while providing clinical supervision and supervise the provision of individual and group therapy and case management to children and their families within the residential and school programs. What You Will Do:
- Trauma Informed: Model and Teach others what is a trauma informed care approach with children in the milieu during the daily routine and in trainings.
- Supervision and Coaching: Monitor performance and conduct one-on-one meetings and reviews. Provides encouraging and constructive feedback. Ensure clinical therapists are providing therapy and case management. Ensure clinical therapists treatment plans meet all standards and are timely.
- Team Management: Screen, interview and hire staff. Approve and sign daily activities schedule. Ensure therapeutic engagement through varied daily activities by direct care staff. Oversee staff scheduling. Review timesheets for unit staff. Manage unit turnover. Keep direct care staff informed of family visits and planned home visits.
- Staff Development: Orient and train new employees. Provide individual and team support and professional development to staff.
- Professional Development: Attend and/or chair scheduled meetings. Maintain communication between residence and school to ensure treatment consistency. Participate in Quality Improvement activities, projects, and reports. Attend required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies.
- Safety, Policies and Procedures: Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures. Assist with formulating standards and setting measurements/goals.
- Case Management: Complete assessments and other documentation during the child’s evaluation phase of treatment. Develop individualized treatment plans, prepare treatment plan reviews and discharge summaries with treatment team. Consult with psychiatrist and psychologist. Schedule and facilitate behavior change review meetings as they are required.
- Therapeutic Services: Provide direct therapeutic services to children, including case management, individual sessions, group therapy, milieu treatment, arranging family contacts/home visits and overseeing the child’s treatment and care in residence/school.
