Position: Information Technology Manager at Building Products Inc Sioux Falls, SD

Information Technology Manager job at Building Products Inc. Sioux Falls, SD.

Lead the Tech Backbone of a Midwest Distribution Powerhouse

At Building Products Inc. (BPI), we fuel construction and millwork across the Midwest with top-tier products and unwavering operational excellence. But we’re more than a supplier — we’re a logistics‑driven tech organization where the IT team plays a pivotal role in how we move, deliver, and support.

We’re looking for a hands‑on IT leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments, someone who can oversee day‑to‑day systems while driving long‑term innovation in ERP, infrastructure, and data security.

About the Role

As our Information Technology Manager , you'll be both a strategic thinker and tactical executor. You'll lead a lean, capable IT team and own the systems that power our high‑volume operations — from ERP optimization to co‑located infrastructure, secure networks, and vendor ecosystems.

What You'll Own and Deliver
Leadership & Strategy
  • Serve as a key operational leader, directly reporting to the CIO/CTO, who sets the long‑term technology vision for BPI.
  • Act as the primary coordinator and technical executor, translating strategic direction into actionable plans across infrastructure, applications, and operations.
  • Align IT systems and processes with enterprise goals, especially in warehouse logistics and distribution.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a small, high‑impact IT support team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute architectural insight and technical expertise to help bridge the gap between vision and delivery.
ERP & System (DMSi / Agility)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on our ERP (DMSi/Agility), providing technical insight and functional guidance to improve system usage across the business.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, inventory, and warehouse teams to enhance reporting, process flows, and system integrations (including WMS, CRM, and EDI).
  • Drive workflow automation, system optimization, and data accuracy to support scalable operations and business visibility.
Network, Infrastructure & Data Center
  • Ensure system uptime, reliability, and performance across LAN/WAN, servers, devices, and cloud services.
  • Own co‑location data center operations, backups, VPNs, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Maintain lifecycle management for hardware, software, and fail‑over systems.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Enforce security best practices across endpoints, user access, and data policies.
  • Lead compliance with internal standards and regulatory frameworks.
End‑User Support & Project Execution
  • Champion fast, friendly IT support for warehouse, office, and field teams.
  • Standardize documentation, ticketing, and resolution processes.
  • Lead IT projects from vendor selection to implementation and scale‑up.
Your Background
Required
  • 5+ years in IT, with 2+ in team leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Strong experience with networks, Windows systems, backups, and desktop support.
  • Track record managing ERP systems, ideally in distribution/logistics environments.
  • Familiarity with co‑located data centers and disaster recovery planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred
  • Hands‑on experience with DMSi/Agility ERP.
  • Knowledge of WMS, EDI, and warehouse automation platforms.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco, or Microsoft.
  • ERP optimization, systems integration, and vendor management.
