Join Smithfield as a Production Supervisor overseeing the entire production process, ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency across the plant.
Safety and CompliancePerform daily inspections, lead safety audits, champion ergonomic initiatives, and ensure adherence to HACCP and USDA regulations.
Product Quality and TrainingMaintain product quality by enforcing Food Safety and Food Quality plans, training employees on safe operating procedures, and ensuring tasks meet product specifications.
Operational EfficiencyTrack and analyze production yields, efficiencies, and variances, collaborating with Managers to improve workflows and reduce downtime.
Team Leadership and CommunicationDirect and guide hourly production employees, lead monthly line meetings, walk the production floor daily, and maintain alignment on safety, quality, and production goals.
Continuous ImprovementAnalyze key product performance metrics, identify improvement areas, and recommend changes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high quality standards.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience leading teams, training, coaching, or mentoring staff, or managing processes or projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to lead problem‑solving efforts on complex process issues.
- Analytical and math skills, adept at motivating and coaching employees to achieve high performance while fostering a respectful, team‑oriented environment.
- Adaptable to fast‑paced, dynamic environments, able to work in varying conditions and willing to work long hours and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Experience with SAP, internet tools, spreadsheets, Word, order processing, and inventory software.
- Background in food processing, leadership, and manufacturing; knowledge of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
The plant environment includes wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Typical noise in the production area is moderate but can be loud. The role may require lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision with ability to adjust focus. Frequent standing, walking, use of hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and speaking or hearing are necessary.
