Position SummaryThe feeder is a production worker who places printed blanks/flat cartons into the machine to be formed and glued. The packer assembles cartons/product that have been formed and glued, inspecting them and packaging them for shipping according to predetermined counts and customer specifications.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Housekeeping in the work area.
- Verify materials running on load.
- Feed according to operator instructions.
- Inspect for defects while feeding the machine.
- Maintain constant communication with the crew.
- Watch and listen for jams.
- Follow returns materials procedure.
- Check new corrugated for correct pack.
- Remove jams and restart the machine per operator instructions.
- Clean glue pots and machinery when necessary.
- Inspect cartons and pack according to specifications.
- Pack at a speed that keeps up with the machine.
- Ability to lift and move at least 75 cartons at a time.
- Inform the operator of any problems.
- Follow instructions and move materials according to established safety procedures.
- Ask questions when needed and maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned (e.g., moving to different machines).
- Ability to read, understand and follow job jacket instructions.
- Knowledge of location and use of all safety devices in the area.
- Must be coordinated to perform the job safely and quickly.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must be able to tolerate repetitious work.
- Must be able to lift and handle at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to keep up with machine speeds.
- Must be on your feet for long shifts (8–12 hours).
- Must not be colorblind.
- Must be able and willing to work any shift and overtime as requested.
