Tire Production General Laborer

Join a fast-paced tire production team where you support the retreading process by preparing and handling truck and trailer tires. You will start in an entry-level general labor role focused on cleaning and moving tires, with the opportunity to progress into machine operation, painting, and other production responsibilities as you gain experience.
Responsibilities- Clean the treads of truck and trailer tires before they are buffed, ensuring they are free of debris and ready for the next stage in the process.
- Roll tires to the side and use a flat screwdriver or similar hand tool to remove rocks and other materials from the treads.
- Safely roll and position tires onto machines for the operator, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Use hand tools, air tools, grinders, drills, stitchers, rollers, and probes as needed to support the tire preparation and production process.
- Perform general labor tasks in a fast-paced production environment, including lifting, moving, and positioning heavy tires and materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency in the production department.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures, including proper use of tools and equipment, to minimize risk of injury.
- Collaborate with team members in the department to meet production goals and maintain consistent workflow.
- Learn and transition into more advanced roles such as machine operation and painting as skills and experience grow.
- At least 6 months of work experience in a fast-paced or production environment.
- At least 6 months of experience using hand tools and power tools such as air tools, grinders, drills, stitchers, rollers, and probes.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for long periods, bending, twisting, stooping, and heavy lifting.
- Comfort working with general labor tasks in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
- Ability to safely handle and operate basic hand tools and power tools.
- Reliability and consistency in attendance and punctuality to support production schedules.
- Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and standard operating processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in general labor, production, warehouse operations, or general repair environments.
- Familiarity with using tools such as grinders, drills, stitchers, rollers, and other basic production tools.
- Willingness to learn machine operation, painting, and other specialized roles within the production process.
- Strong attention to detail when cleaning treads and preparing tires for buffing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a high-activity environment.

WorkEnvironment
This role is based in a manufacturing and production environment that is very fast paced and labor intensive. The facility focuses heavily on safety, and you will use various hand tools and power tools as part of your daily work. The workspace has a noticeable tire smell, consistent with a tire production setting. You will work in a department of about 7–8 employees within a company of approximately 28 people, fostering a small-team atmosphere.
The standard hours are from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with overtime available on Saturdays as needed. You will have one 30-minute break at 9:00 a.m. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and closed-toe shoes to support safety and comfort during physically demanding tasks.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux Falls, SD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
