Compensation
: $80,000 – $100,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

Position Overview

The Foundation Director provides visionary leadership to build, expand, and diversify the Bethany Lutheran Foundation’s fundraising efforts. This role oversees annual giving, major and planned gifts, donor relations, grants, fundraising events, and special initiatives while working closely with the CEO and Foundation Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead development and execution of annual and long-range fundraising plans
  • Secure major and planned gifts through personal solicitation, targeted appeals, grants, and special events
  • Cultivate, steward, and grow relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors
  • Coordinate fundraising initiatives for Bethany Home Sioux Falls, Bethany Home Brandon, and Bethany Meadows
  • Plan and oversee fundraising events, including the Bethany Meadows Golf Tournament
  • Research and pursue public and private grant opportunities
  • Develop donor communications, presentations, and informational programs
  • Maintain donor database and ensure timely acknowledgements and stewardship
  • Organize and support Foundation Board meetings and provide regular reports
  • Represent Bethany in community and professional organizations
  • Collaborate with leadership on special initiatives, capital campaigns, and donor recognition events
Qualifications
  • Foundation development experience preferred OR minimum 3 years of recent not-for-profit leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven success in fundraising and donor relationship management
  • Strong communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Passion for serving older adults and mission-driven work
