Job Summary
This is a Part‑time position with the Department of Health – Board of Nursing. The role manages the regulation of certified nurse aides by supporting CNA applicants, registrants, employers and the public with their training and registration processes. Responsibilities include interpreting state and federal laws and board actions, evaluating training programs for compliance with approval standards, and assisting applicants in meeting registration qualifications.
Licensure& Credentials
South Dakota Registered Nurse license or privilege to practice in South Dakota.
Qualifications- Baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing.
- Experience in the didactic and clinical instruction of pre‑licensure nursing education programs or nurse aide training programs.
- Experience in a long‑term care nursing setting.
- Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate nursing issues relevant to nursing regulation.
- Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Training and registration requirements for certified nurse aides.
- Clinical nursing experience in delegation to unlicensed or registered personnel.
Skills:
- Analyze large volumes of medical/nursing information and synthesize it into logical responses.
- Understand state and federal laws and regulations related to nursing licensure, practice, education, and compliance.
- Communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and as a presenter for groups.
- Use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Organize and complete work independently, seeking consultation when necessary.
- Lead a nursing training program survey and present oral and written reports with recommendations.
Abilities:
- Work effectively in a team environment, providing leadership, direction, and guidance on nurse assistant education.
- Lead projects related to nursing assistant training and develop new processes using evidence‑informed decision‑making.
- Represent the Board with external parties.
- Prepare and present an annual statistical and narrative report of nursing assistant programs.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Collaborate with support staff to implement regulations.
Salary: $36.70–$43.18 per hour, depending on qualifications. Class A retirement under SDRS. The position offers $0 premium employee health insurance option, eleven paid holidays, generous vacation and sick leave accrual, dental, vision, and other insurance options.
