Position Overview

Primary nurse with adult infectious disease at Avera Infectious Disease Specialists, Sioux Falls.

Work Shift:

Day Shift (United States of America)

Pay Range

RN: $27.75 - $41.25

LPN: $22.50 - $31.50

MA: $20.00 - $28.00

May be eligible for a $6000 sign on bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general nursing care to patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepare equipment and assist provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
  • Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
  • Oversee appointment scheduling and ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
  • Maintain timely flow of patients.
  • Greet patients and prepare them for physical examination.
  • Screen patients for appropriate information including obtaining health history, and taking vitals.
  • Document obtained information in patient chart.
  • Instruct patient in collection of samples and tests.
  • Respond to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
  • Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials; ensure cleanliness.
  • Prepare list of medical supplies needed; assure appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed; perform quality control and maintain records on all lab testing.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to work the hours specified.
  • Must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including visual acuity and effective communication skills.

  • Required Education, License/Certification, or

    Work Experience:

    Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Board of Nursing; an active license in the state of practice.
