Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Med Surg

Position Overview

As an LPN in medical-surgical units, you provide bedside nursing care for a variety of medical conditions, monitor patients, and support rapid assessment and response in a hospital setting.

The role emphasizes versatile clinical skills, teamwork, and documentation to ensure safe, efficient inpatient care.

• Administer medications, monitor patient status, and update the care team on changes.
• Assist with procedures, wound care, and routine diagnostic processes.
• Support patient mobility, nutrition, and discharge planning alongside RNs and physicians.
• Document care plans, vitals, and responses in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and post-discharge instructions.

Education:

Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.

Licensure:

Current LPN license in the state of practice.

Certifications:

• CPR/BLS

Experience or Skills:

1+ year of medical-surgical experience; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in inpatient hospital units, including rounds and documentation
• Experience coordinating with case management and discharge planning

• Experience with venipuncture or IV therapy

Acute care inpatient unit with a multidisciplinary team; variable shifts and on-call coverage may be required.

Documentation in the EHR and close collaboration with nurses and physicians.
