Registered Nurse I
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a key clinical team member supporting the full range of psychiatric and specialty treatment services at Turnwell Mental Health Network, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato® (esketamine), IV Ketamine therapy, and Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP). The RN is responsible for direct patient care, medication administration, treatment monitoring, and clinical documentation across service lines.
Working under the supervision of the Medical Director and prescribing providers, the RN ensures that every patient receives safe, compliant, and compassionate care throughout their treatment journey, and serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, and the broader care team.
Core ResponsibilitiesClinical Care & Treatment Administration
- Administer IV Ketamine treatments to patients as prescribed by the medical team, monitoring vital signs and mental status throughout each infusion.
- Administer and monitor Spravato® (esketamine) treatment sessions in accordance with REMS requirements, including required post-dose monitoring periods.
- Support Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment sessions as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Administer injections, vaccines, and other prescribed medications per provider orders.
- Perform EKGs, blood draws, and other diagnostic procedures as ordered by providers.
- Process medication refill requests and route prior authorization needs to the appropriate provider or Prior Authorization Specialist.
Patient Assessment & Monitoring
- Conduct pre-treatment assessments to confirm patient suitability and safety for specialty treatments (TMS, Spravato®, IV Ketamine).
- Take and record patient vitals accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature.
- Monitor patients closely during and after treatment administration, escalating any adverse reactions or safety concerns to the supervising provider immediately.
- Collaborate with providers to adjust treatment plans based on patient response and clinical presentation.
Patient Support & Education
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients undergoing treatment, addressing questions and concerns with empathy.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment protocols, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Serve as a clinical point of contact for patient questions between provider visits.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all clinical encounters, treatments, and outcomes in the EHR.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and organizational policies related to patient privacy and clinical documentation standards.
- Comply with specialty program-specific requirements, including REMS documentation and reporting obligations for Spravato®.
- Maintain compliance with state nursing practice regulations and medication administration protocols.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Collaborate with Medical Assistants, Prior Authorization Specialists, and clinic staff to ensure coordinated, efficient patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain clinical competency across all specialty service lines.
- Support the onboarding and training of new clinical staff as directed by the Medical Director or Practice Manager.
Required
- Valid and current RN licensure in the state of clinical practice.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a psychiatric, behavioral health, or outpatient setting.
- Certification or training in IV therapy and medication administration.
- Strong understanding of psychiatric and mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and treatment-resistant presentations.
- Ability to assess patients' physical and emotional well-being accurately.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
Preferred
- Experience with TMS, Spravato®, and IV Ketamine treatment protocols.
