Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center-Sioux Falls
Worker Type: Regular
Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays (United States of America)
Pay Range: $32.50 - $48.50 (actual pay dependent upon experience)
Position Highlights: This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000. Nurses with 3+ years of experience:
Every 3rd weekend and every other holiday. Nurses with less than 3 years:
Every other weekend and every other holiday.
The Avera Behavioral Health Adolescent & Child Unit is designed to be a structured and age-appropriate therapeutic environment for adolescents and children, helping them learn to understand problems, use healthy coping skills, and set and complete goals.

- Child unit: 14 beds.

- One RN for a 7-8 patient ratio.
- Self-scheduling program.
- Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health-care team, and coordinating with other providers; provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends, and confer with physicians.
- Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting patient condition, establishing nursing diagnoses, objectives, and interventions.
- Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient-care goals and instructing patients, families, and friends to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills; answer questions and provide information and resources.
- Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re-evaluating objectives, and modifying plans.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to infection-control policies, medication administration procedures, controlled-substance regulations, organizational standards, and legal regulations; alert others to potential concerns.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Keep patient-care equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Keep supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items.
- Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state license (Board of Nursing) upon hire.
- 1-3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
