Ascend Intern - Urban Forestry

Position will be posted until filled. Hiring managers will actively review applications, scheduling interviews, and hiring candidates as they see fit.

* Assist with urban forest management activities, such as inventory updates, marking trees for removal, coordinating with homeowners, and performing site inspections.

* Assist with education and outreach pertaining to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), tree planting, maintenance, and benefits.

* Work closely with City of Sioux Falls contractors removing and planting trees to monitor progress and inspect work for quality assurance.

* Assist with the City of Sioux Falls planting permit program performing initial site inspections, re-inspecting planted sites, and updating the tree inventory.

* Review the city's forestry website to provide opportunities for increased communication efficiencies and avenues.

* Provide assistance with forest management planning and program development.

* This is a 2026 summer internship

* Students enrolled in a forestry, arboriculture, natural resources management, horticulture, landscape design, or closely related curriculum, as a full-time student at a college, university, or vocational technical school.

* Ability to identify various tree species.

* Ability to work as a team member and collaborate effectively with others.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Must be able to work a 40-hour flexible schedule that includes potential for nights, weekends, and holidays.
