Position: Neuroscience Account Manager (Psychiatry

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute and promote products in alignment with sales strategy in the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with the District Sales Manager on day-to-day sales and product promotion direction.
  • Analyze local market; develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize product use.
  • Maintain current product, disease, competitive, and market reimbursement knowledge.
  • Determine, implement, and monitor optimal resource allocation (budgets, time, etc.) in territory.
  • Use advanced selling and negotiation skills to communicate persuasively with target audiences.
  • Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels.
  • Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems as needed.
  • Manage travel and promotional budget.
  • Complete monitoring and reporting requirements (expenses, call reporting) using approved systems.
  • Maintain full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Vanda policies.
  • Meet industry-standard credentialing requirements for healthcare providers and customer facilities.
  • Perform additional ad-hoc projects as needed.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • BS or BA with GPA > 3.0.
  • Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical sales experience preferred (otherwise may be considered for “Associate” role).
  • Atypical anti-psychotic and/or orphan drug experience preferred.
  • Specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management preferred.
  • Reimbursement experience preferred.
  • Existing relationships (or within 24 months) with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in assigned territory preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving history.
  • Self-starter; goal and results-driven with a proven track record.
  • “Hunter” mentality; strong territory relationships/knowledge.
  • Ability to travel (may include overnights); out-of-territory travel to HQs/training/meetings; work hours may include evenings.
  • Must reside within territory geography.

  • Navigate complex organizations; strong work ethic and organization.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently; make sound decisions; adjust to roadblocks.

  • Ability to lift/move items up to 15 pounds occasionally.
