Under technical direction, manages and directs the work activities of a sales force staff to drive business development and results in assigned regions including developing sales strategies and marketing plans to achieve organizational premium and loss goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manages the work activities and has full management accountability for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction. Sets direction and establishes performance goals including stretch goals and communicates progress, addressing issues that impact service provided by the teams. Drives business development, agency and marketing intelligence efforts to achieve premium production plans. Oversees the staff's promotion of company products and services including executing sales plans to generate business from agency force, meet organizational premium and loss goals, retain business, increase number of producing agents and prospects, create good public relations and project a professional corporate image.
Collaborates with peers in Marketing, Business Development, Underwriting and other areas to develop strategies for achieving organizational objectives. Travels with assigned marketing representatives in their assigned territories and has direct oversight and evaluation of sales techniques and customer interactions. Manages and evaluates marketing representative activities including audits, reporting, goal achievement and analytics.
Reporting Relationship Typically a Director or above.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities- Solid knowledge of insurance industry practices.
- Accounting or business related experience.
- Ability to produce outstanding sales results.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and telephone skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
- Creativity in resolving issues and problems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business related software.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Typically a minimum of seven years related work experience in sales and/or marketing.
