Armed Security Officer Part Time

Position Overview

We are currently seeking full‑time and part‑time Armed Security Officers to be located at the Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) in Sioux Falls, SD. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety and protection of EROS government facilities and personnel, including patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, access points, and permitting entry.

Minimum hourly rate: $20.12. Health & Welfare hourly rate: $5.09 (plus differential pay for night or swing shifts).

The Security Officer will provide support at the USGS, Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Security Officers provide support 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Shift times: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.; and 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

• 21 years of age or older with a valid license.
• Must complete a background check (criminal/financial).
• Must complete a physical exam.
• Must pass a drug screen.
• Must hold First Aid/CPR/AED certification issued by ADC.
• Must complete a weapons qualification course.

• Concealed carry permit.
