Semi-Trailer Mechanic
The Semi-Trailer Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and fabricating components for semi-trailers and related equipment. This position requires strong mechanical skills, welding experience, and the ability to perform custom fabrication work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair semi-trailers, including structural, suspension, brake, and electrical systems
- Perform routine maintenance such as brake jobs, wheel seals, lighting repairs, and inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding on steel, aluminum, and other materials
- Fabricate and repair trailer components such as frames, doors, floors, and panels
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete fabrication projects
- Ensure weld quality meets safety and structural standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and organized condition
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
- Document repairs and maintain accurate service records
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in trailer repair, heavy equipment, or related field
- Proven welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with aluminum and stainless steel fabrication
- Certification in welding (AWS or similar)
- Strong understanding of trailer systems (brakes, suspension, electrical)
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely
- Valid Driver's license required, CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus
- Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to tolerate working indoors with exposure to noise and fumes
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to stand, squat, bend, lift and walk for long durations
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physical environments
