Diesel Truck Mechanic

Knife River is seeking a Diesel Truck Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of heavy-duty trucks and construction support vehicles. In this role, you will diagnose engine, transmission, brake, and hydraulic issues; perform routine and preventive maintenance; and complete DOT inspections to keep equipment safe and reliable. You'll use diagnostic tools, read technical manuals, and document work performed. Collaborating with drivers and supervisors, you'll prioritize repairs to minimize downtime while following strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks, engines, drive trains, brakes, and hydraulic systems
• Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure equipment meets safety and regulatory standards
• Use diagnostic software, tools, and manuals to troubleshoot complex issues
• Document repairs, parts used, and maintenance records accurately
• Collaborate with drivers and supervisors to prioritize repairs and communicate equipment status
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all Knife River safety procedures
• Assist with on-site or roadside repairs for construction projects as needed
