1st Shift Warehouse Worker
The 1st shift warehouse worker plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory and ensuring timely, error-free order fulfillment. In this position, you pick, receive, issue, and transfer products, operate warehouse equipment safely, and use RF scanners and labeling systems to organize customer-specific orders. You help build and move pallets efficiently while upholding established productivity and quality standards in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Responsibilities- Pick, issue, receive, and transfer products to maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
- Use RF scanners to scan locations, confirm quantities, and ensure precise product tracking.
- Apply stickers and labels to cases to identify customer-specific orders and support shipment accuracy.
- Build up to two full pallets per pass through the warehouse and repeat the process as needed to meet order volume.
- Maintain established work standards and productivity goals for order picking and pallet building.
- Safely operate manual and powered equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, to move, load, and unload products efficiently.
- Inspect products and packaging for quality and damage prior to shipping to ensure they meet standards.
- Review and verify orders for accuracy before shipment, confirming correct items, quantities, and labels.
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned to support overall operations and team needs.
- Experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Ability to safely operate an 8-foot riding pallet jack, including basic controls such as up/down, forward/backward, and stop.
- Proficiency using RF scanners (RF guns) to scan locations and confirm product quantities.
- Strong order picking skills, including following a numerically slotted system for product selection.
- Ability to apply labels and stickers accurately to cases for customer identification and shipment organization.
- High level of physical stamina, including the ability to lift 50 lb cases repeatedly.
- Capability to pick approximately 3,000–6,000 cases per night of liquor and wine or similar products.
- Attention to detail when inspecting product and packaging quality and reviewing orders for accuracy.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment with variable workload.
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience with 8-foot riding pallet jacks is preferred.
- Previous work in inventory management or warehouse picking is beneficial.
- Experience working with labeling and organizational systems in a distribution setting.
- Familiarity with handling liquor, wine, or other beverage products in bulk is an advantage.
- Ability to adapt to changing order volumes and shift end times.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow established processes and slotting systems.

Work EnvironmentThis is a 1st shift role in a busy warehouse and distribution facility. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with shift end times that may vary depending on the number of orders to be picked. The environment is fast paced, with continuous movement, equipment operation, and high case volumes. The facility can become hot at times during the summer, and the work is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting, carrying, and pallet building while operating forklifts and riding pallet jacks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux Falls, SD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
