Accounting Clerk​/Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to join our finance team in Sitka, Alaska. This is a full-time permanent position open to applicants across a range of experience levels. The title and compensation offered at hire will reflect the successful candidate's qualifications. This position is on-site in Sitka, Alaska and is not eligible for remote work at this time.

We welcome candidates who are eager to learn. For those early in their careers, training will be provided.

• Accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting
• Fixed assets management and tracking
• Tracking and recording work in progress (WIP) activity
• General ledger recordkeeping and account reconciliation
• Supporting financial reporting and month-end close processes
• Other accounting duties as assigned

Placement and compensation will be determined based on the following:

• 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, or equivalent coursework
• Familiarity with basic accounting concepts and a strong desire to learn
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• High attention to detail and accuracy

• 3 or more years of progressive accounting experience
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experienced in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• A bachelor & degree in accounting or a related field is preferred but not required

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to independent review of one's own work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A collaborative approach and ability to communicate effectively with immediate teammates, as well as across departments
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities

• Starting wage: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and Qualifications
• A performance and wage review will follow the 90-day introductory period
