JOB SUMMARY
The Drilling Materials Specialist is a leadership position responsible for supporting all drilling activities, under the oversight of the NS AES Materials General Foreman. This role collaborates closely with Conoco Phillips Operations and tool pushers to ensure the timely fulfillment of both scheduled and unscheduled material needs. Safety is the top priority in this position, requiring the Specialist to lead by example, actively participate in safety based programs and uphold all safety processes with unwavering commitment.
ESSENTIALDUTIES
- Direct daily drilling material activities in collaboration with the drilling coordinator, warehouseman/expediter, ice road support crews, loader operators, and truck drivers.
- Actively participate as a team member in a collaborative, team-oriented work environment to ensure success.
- Support all Kuparuk/WNS drilling operations, with a primary focus on locally based rigs, well work needs, Roads and Pads, and associated third-party contractors.
- Coordinate with Conoco Phillips planners and engineers to identify material requirements and manage annual ice road re-supply activities.
- Monitor downhole well completions and schedules to ensure materials are available in advance and reconcile inventories upon completion.
- Create material requisitions in SAP and perform or oversee scheduled and unscheduled annual inventories specific to drilling.
- Develop or update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the drilling organization as required.
- Prioritize tasks effectively, multitask, delegate, and direct duties to crew members.
- Maintain clear communication and foster strong interpersonal relationships while demonstrating motivation and self-direction.
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid U.S. issued Driver’s License is required.
- A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
- The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2×2 rotation is required.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a Drilling Materials Specialist, with demonstrated knowledge of materials management, drilling tools, wellhead equipment, tubular identification, and drilling inventory reconciliation.
- Proficiency with SAP, Networks, and PM Orders specifically for ordering, managing, receiving, issuing, and inventorying all Conoco Phillips owned materials on site with an emphasis in the MM/PM Modules.
- Five (5) or more years of experience working as a Drilling Materials Specialist specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe position requires compliance with safety, driving records, drug testing, and physical fitness standards. Candidates must pass a Fit-for-Duty Exam, background check, and obtain and maintain an access badge. The role is located in a remote arctic environment and requires accommodation mitigation after training.
