Job Summary

The Kindergarten aide provides assistants to the kindergarten classroom teachers in supporting students’ day‑to‑day functions to ensure a smooth transition of students to the educational environment. This position is for the  school year.

New Hire Starting Hourly Rate:
Grade 5: $20.13 - $22.51 DOE
Internal Hourly Rate:
Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work Day: 7 hours per day
Work Year: 9 months

Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

• Must meet one of the following:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and either completed or able to complete the Para Professional Assessment within four (4) months of hire.
  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or equivalent.
• Work experience demonstrating an ability to maintain accurate records and implement plans.
• Proven proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to relate and work successfully with students and adults and to work as a team in developing and delivering academic programs for students.
• Demonstrated ability to be patient with young children and their developmental needs.
