Elementary teachers are needed for the upcoming school year in Alaska's second largest school district. Located 45 minutes outside of Anchorage, AK, the district has over 18,000+ students across 48 schools. The communities served include Glacier View, Sutton, Palmer, Wasilla, Butte, Knik-Fairview, Meadow Lakes, Big Lake, Houston, Willow, Talkeetna, and Trapper Creek. The mission of the district is to prepare all students for success.
Position
Description:
To teach students through a variety of instructional techniques both the required and supplementary subject matter and skills within district curriculum and create an excellent classroom environment which is conducive to learning for each individual student.
Salary: $56,445 - $88,646 depending on verification of service and education. The district has a competitive salary schedule with an accelerated step advancement. Applicants can bring a maximum of 6 years' experience. A $3,000 bonus per year is paid for National Certification.
Leave:
Each certified teacher receives 4 paid personal leave days at the beginning of the year and accrues 1.33 sick leave days each month of employment.
Retirement:
The district is a member of the State of Alaska Teachers Retirement System.
Licensing Requirements:
Alaska Teaching Certificate Type A and endorsement for assigned teaching courses. Ability to meet the Alaska Reads Act requirements.
