Overview
Safety Specialist role reports to the Safety Manager and collaborates with Environmental, Health, and Security staff.
The Safety Specialist ensures all activities comply with Santos Ltd. procedures, policies, and best practices by providing EHS technical support, collaborating on safety solutions, and coordinating risk management.
Location and ScheduleLocation:
North Slope, Alaska
Schedule:
2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, 12‑hour days. Contingent Workforce Program position.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise and collaborate on the development of safety and EHS solutions.
- Support drilling, completions, operations, maintenance, and construction contracts.
- Work closely with contractors to ensure execution of their own EHS Plans and Santos Ltd. Pikka Development Plans.
- Engage daily with Santos Ltd. leadership, field EHS representatives, and contractor workforce through field audits, observations, safety meetings, and weekly HSE leadership meetings.
- 8–10 years of safety experience in the oil and gas and construction industry.
- Experience working in a team environment with excellent communication, program development, and supervisory skills.
- Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related sciences (desirable).
- Microsoft Office Power User – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, One Note, Teams.
- Experience with Incident Risk Management Software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload and deliver results through realistic planning.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Builds strong relationships across matrix/organizational boundaries.
