Job Description

The Project Engineer provides engineering support for underground development, mass excavation and construction projects. Responsibilities include the preparation, scheduling, coordination, forecasting, resourcing and monitoring of assigned engineering projects to ensure overall accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in planning, coordination, procurement, and management of the overall design and engineering process.
  • Ensures that engineering designs follow all applicable regulations and safety standards.
  • Identifies and corrects daily operational problems and takes necessary action.
  • Identifies changes and variations to the works under the Contract and ensures these issues are recorded, tracked, and otherwise managed in accordance with the Contract.
  • Collects information and prepares daily reports on underground mine development.
  • Provides technical support, quality, and environmental control of the works in accordance with contract specifications and the relevant statutory regulations.
  • Schedules project activities in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly mine development forecasts.
  • Prepares construction and fabrication drawings and supports construction crews to ensure that work done meets technical requirements.
  • Addresses and troubleshoots daily activity issues needing action.
  • Conducts cycle studies and estimates performance rates.
  • Ensures compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures as related.
  • Prepares and reviews change order requests and determines the technical requirements for implementation of the changes.
  • Ensures that all construction is drafted and specifications are determined prior to the associated construction activity.
  • Ensures that all work is completed to acceptable technical and quality standards.
  • Attends meetings and interacts with client representatives.
  • Tours work areas to ensure that quality and scope of work is being accomplished.
  • Compiles redline drawings to ensure the drawing register is up to date with current as-built conditions.
  • Operates a company vehicle when required; must meet eligibility requirements (state driver’s license, acceptable driving record).
  • Is responsible for keeping work areas safe and free of hazards; performs field level risk assessments.
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions to perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Complies with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
  • Ensures compliance with Redpath’s policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Is able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, including overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays, and shift rotations.
  • Complies with Redpath Core Competencies, which is an essential duty and responsibility.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
Work Experience
  • Required:

    3-5 years’ experience in a mining environment.
