Job Summary
Remote position open to candidates based in Alaska with experience supporting environmental site assessment and remediation projects within the state. Annual salary range for this role is $85,000–$120,000, commensurate with accomplishments, performance, and credentials.
Responsibilities- Plan, execute, and/or oversee Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation, and/or site‑specific reuse and/or area‑wide planning and design activities.
- Assist with project fieldwork throughout Alaska, including site reconnaissance, brownfield inventories, sampling of soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water and other media, and remediation at various locations.
- Collect field data in an organized and concise manner that follows corporate and client standard operating procedures and work plans.
- Exercise safe work practices by following Onterris and client safety rules, OSHA regulations, and attending required safety training programs.
- Supervise subconsultants and subcontractors in the field.
- Consult with senior staff to prepare work plans, technical reports, data interpretation, and graphical presentations.
- Apply judgment in evaluating, selecting, adapting, and modifying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Manage project budget and hours, using time effectively to complete tasks within assigned time frames.
- Communicate to leadership when issues arise that may inhibit tasks within scheduled deadlines and budget limits.
- Assist with project management and grant administration for multiple grant‑funded projects, including grant application support and collaboration with senior grant writers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, an associated science, or a combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience planning, executing, and/or overseeing Phase I/II ESAs, remediation, and/or site‑specific reuse and/or area‑wide planning activities.
- Experience with multi‑media sampling (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, sediment, etc.).
- Experience with remedial/construction oversight, confirmatory sampling, air monitoring, and documentation.
- Physical ability to perform typical environmental field duties as verified through an annual physical examination.
- OSHA training preferred (training will be provided to meet role requirements).
- Basic understanding of geological and environmental principles and their application to field circumstances.
- Capability to learn and deploy common field equipment (water quality meters, sampling equipment, air monitoring equipment) and GPS location equipment.
- Discretion, good judgment, and confidentiality.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer‑aided software (Word, Excel, Project, Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Willingness to work in a fast‑paced and demanding environment, travel throughout Alaska, and work outside normal business hours when needed.
