Supervisory Park Ranger; Protection; Chief Ranger

Summary

This position is located in Katmai National Park and Preserve, in the Protection Division.

• Supervise and mentor field law enforcement staff, both permanent and seasonal.
• Detect, investigate, apprehend, and prosecute under applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Educate, interpret, and inform visitors about resources, conservation, laws, and regulations.
• Provide training in law enforcement disciplines, both formal and informal.

No substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a valid Type I or higher level National Park Service Law Enforcement Commission by the closing date.

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
• Must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
• Must possess a valid Type I or higher Law Enforcement Commission.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and submit Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to operate a government or private motor vehicle as part of official duties.
• Must be physically capable of performing the duties described, including travel up to 15 nights per month.
