Overview

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. Works as a team member to serve WIC clients in the YK Delta. Initiates WIC certification for participants in the WIC office and offsite in village clinics. Collects certification documents, completes data entry, creates and updates files, faxes and copies program materials. Handles monthly mailings and warrant printing. Explains program benefits and rules to clients. Ensures clients receive nutrition education as required.
Provides health and nutrition assessment of height, weight, and hemoglobin. Maintains inventory and orders supplies. Functions as a team member on other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum Experience: 1 or more years working in an office setting, preferably with patient or client interaction.
License, Certification, Registration: Infant CPR within 3 months of hire.
Equipment/Tools/Word-Aids: Computer, Hemocue machine, weighing scales, height board, telephone, and xerox.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Speaks the Yupik language. Good computer skills, knowledge of community resources, knowledge of laws regarding child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. High degree of interaction with clients.
