About the Program

Mills House is a community-based group home providing 24‑hour staffing and a therapeutic component for 5 boys aged 14‑21 with serious emotional and behavioral challenges. The program emphasizes maximizing each boy’s ability to develop life‑skills for living outside an institutional setting through normative community activities.

Position Overview

Residential Counselor responsible for maintaining the physical environment, program standards, medication administration, care coordination, and educational support for the residents.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies.
  • Monitor self‑administration of client medications per agency medication policies.
  • Use appropriate communication methods to collaborate with co‑workers and clients.
  • Teach and assist residents with developmentally appropriate activities of daily living.
  • Assist or manage administrative functions and tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Prepare and facilitate educational and skill‑building groups and one‑to‑one interventions as directed by treatment plan.
  • Collaborate and coordinate care with providers and families.
  • Assist residents with medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:

    Two years’ experience working with a relevant population preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    Valid driver’s license required with good driving record.
Compensation

$19.00/hr
