The Behavioral Health Program Manager (PM)- Child and Family Services applies program management, supervisory, and clinical skills to manage assigned mental health programs within the organization. The PM is responsible for directing care and providing clinical services to a wide range of individuals and families including; foster children, biological families, foster families and/or adoptive families, other children/siblings, adolescents, and adult family members as identified through assessment.
Education& Experience
- Master’s degree in the behavioral health field (counseling, psychology, social work, etc.) and a professional mental health license (i.e., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, etc.)
- Two years of direct mental health counseling practice minimum required;
Preferred 5 years minimum clinical experience or two years clinical experience post clinical licensure - Experience with trauma-informed care, family/group therapy strongly preferred; A minimum of one year of experience providing therapy to children and/or families. Two years supervisory experience preferred.
- Analyzes and assesses Family Center program, service delivery, and staffing needs for both clinical and therapeutic behavioral health (TBHS) services
- Assists the Clinical Director in developing and implementing program policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the effective delivery of quality, ethical mental health services in the Family Center program
- Assists Clinical Director in recruiting and hiring staff; training supervises, and promptly completes appropriate employee performance reviews. Addresses performance improvement issues.
- Maintains a minimum clinical caseload of 8-10 clients, as determined by the Clinical Director based on intensity and scope of each case
- Oversees the clinical team for services at the Family Center (may or may not provide licensure supervision based on qualifications)
- Oversees staff/service schedules to ensure an appropriate level of services and productivity is maintained
- Participates in quality improvement measures and in-service training, compiles data, and completes monthly board reports
- Adheres to the requirements and regulations set forth by the State of Alaska Department of Behavioral Health (SOA DBH), Accreditation standards, and the ethical codes of clinical licensure boards
- Adheres to all current federal & state laws, Sitka Counseling’s Policies & Procedures, including the safeguarding of confidential healthcare information and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Ensures program staff maintains concise clinical records that promptly comply with State and Federal regulations
- Establishes professional relationships and communicates with clients, caseworkers/probation officers, family members, external providers, staff, and community partners
- Conducts weekly program staff meetings and facilitates group clinical supervision for para clinical/hourly staff
- Maintains a professionally organized/clean workspace
- Assists the Leadership team in short and long-term planning for the children’s program
(reduced caseload of 8-10 minimum)
- Completes initial diagnostic assessments (within 72 hours of assessment) to determine treatment needs and conducts ongoing assessments (every 6 months/annually) to determine when clinical goals have been achieved and service delivery is no longer indicated
- Develops initial treatment plans and renders first treatment session (within 7 days of assessment) and updates treatment plans (every 90 days) to include age-appropriate clinical interventions/objectives/goals that are observable and measurable
