Job Summary:

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides therapeutic treatments under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, supporting patient rehabilitation across various settings. The role involves implementing treatment plans, educating patients, and collaborating with healthcare team members to promote mobility and functional independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute therapy interventions based on the physical therapist’s treatment plan to meet patient goals and ensure safety.
  • Review clinical records, case histories, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, activities, and proper use of assistive devices to maximize rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Document patient encounters, including diagnoses, treatments, progress, and recommendations, following hospital policies.
  • Assist with fitting and training patients on durable medical equipment and adaptive devices.
  • Participate in community outreach, home assessments, and off-site therapy services, including telehealth as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Hold an associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program and current licensure.
  • Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of musculoskeletal physiology, treatment techniques, and relevant regulations.
  • Possess strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • Experience in acute care hospital or outpatient settings preferred.
  • Clinical competency and high-risk competency required within three months of hire, with ongoing renewal every three years.
