As the Senior Market Area Director, Laboratory Services, you will serve as the key administrative leader responsible for coordinating critical laboratory initiatives across the market area while providing direct oversight of multiple laboratories. Working closely with Market Chief Executives, Division leadership, physician partners, and laboratory teams, you will play a vital role in advancing laboratory performance, operational excellence, and strategic transformation initiatives.

In partnership with the Division Executive Director, Clinical Lab, you will provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership to laboratory services throughout the market area. This role requires a leader who can navigate complex political, regulatory, and economic environments while driving meaningful change and supporting Division, Market Area, and System strategic goals. Through a dyad leadership model that includes administrative oversight of Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Services, you will help guide the future of laboratory services across the region.

What

You'll Do:
  • Laboratory Transformation Champion:
    Partner with the Division Executive Director, Clinical Lab to implement laboratory transformation initiatives and strategic improvements throughout the market area.
  • Strategic Planning Leader:
    Collaborate with senior market and division leadership to support long-range planning efforts that advance clinical excellence, enhance the patient experience, and strengthen system integration.
  • Operational Excellence Driver:
    Provide leadership and accountability for laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality care, customer service, patient satisfaction, productivity, and operational efficiency consistent with Division and System goals.
  • Systems Integration Advocate:
    Establish organizational structures and management systems that support strategic and tactical goals while aligning laboratory services with broader system laboratory strategies.
  • Growth and Innovation Strategist:
    Develop and implement integration, growth, and improvement initiatives focused on quality, compliance, fiscal stewardship, reimbursement optimization, and physician support.
  • Quality and Performance Leader:
    Ensure laboratory services achieve operational, clinical, financial, and quality performance goals while maintaining adherence to KPI targets and performance forecasts.
  • Physician Partnership Builder:
    Collaborate with physician leadership, medical staff, and clinical teams to strengthen relationships, align laboratory initiatives with Division priorities, and support quality clinical outcomes.
  • Process Improvement Champion:
    Identify opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate waste, reduce duplication, and improve efficiency across laboratory operations throughout the service area.
  • Financial Steward:
    Oversee laboratory financial and capital planning needs in partnership with Regional Finance, ensuring resources are aligned with strategic priorities and support long-term financial health.
  • Change Leadership Expert:
    Lead organizational change initiatives by fostering collaboration, building engagement, and helping teams successfully navigate evolving service delivery models and strategic priorities.
What You'll Bring:
  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Laboratory Science or a related scientific field.
    • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of leadership experience with P&L accountability in a large integrated healthcare system, commercial laboratory, or similarly complex environment.
    • Experience developing and implementing both short-term and long-term business strategies.
