JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY

The Alaska Democratic Party is hiring an Organizing Director who will build a year-round volunteer program statewide that will lay the groundwork for the Alaska Democrats 2026 Coordinated Campaign, and will oversee all volunteer efforts in collaboration with a Coordinated Campaign Director and Party leadership. This is a year-round position, intended to be permanent and remain on board after 2026. Outstanding candidates will be considered for promotion to the Coordinated Campaign Director role.

The path to Democratic majorities in the nation's capitol runs through Alaska: we have incredible flip opportunities for both the US Senate and US Congress, plus an open Governor's race and a suite of legislative races statewide that will be key to maintaining and growing the Democratic members of the bipartisan majority coalitions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and implement a data-driven volunteer engagement program that activates and motivates Democratic volunteers – including but not limited to training, community events, and collaboration with partners
  • Lead the field program, including managing the budget and hiring and managing field organizers for the Coordinated Campaign
  • Analyze incoming data and track progress of all field efforts
  • Coordinate and communicate well with field directors of statewide campaigns, caucus programs, and external allied partners
  • Building and leveraging key relationships on the ground across the state
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Two-plus years of campaign experience, one in a leadership position
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteers
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience using a voter file (VAN preferred)
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced but fulfilling environment, which includes evening and weekend hours
  • Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel as necessary
  • Must be a motivated, strategic, positive problem-solver, and self-starter with a proven ability to motivate others
PREFERRED, BUT NOT

REQUIRED:
  • Experience working in Alaska communities, or in rural communities
