Adventure Therapy / Eco Therapy Outreach & Support — Develop
Ameri Corps
Ameri Corps members serve 36–40 hours per week as tutors, mentors, outreach workers, and community organizers. They live in co‑housing communities, share household responsibilities, and dedicate about 10% of their service hours to community engagement, building connections with local organizations. Because of Alaska’s geography and transportation limitations, members must commit to a full‑time term. Training emphasizes leadership development, conflict resolution, and critical‑thinking skills.
Sitka’s walkability allows most transportation to occur on foot or by bicycle, with housing centrally located.
Position Summary: Sitka Ameri Corps members support the community through a healing‑centered, culturally responsive program model. They build relationships through individual and group support, mentoring, and mental‑health enrichment activities to foster resilience and long‑term success for adults in recovery.
