About the Position
RN Infusion
Sitka, AK | Infusion Services | Permanent | Full-Time | Day Shift
Job Description The Infusion Registered Nurse provides safe, high-quality infusion therapy in an outpatient setting, caring for patients receiving specialty IV medications across multiple service lines (e.g., oncology, medical, infectious disease). The RN is responsible for advanced IV and vascular access management, close monitoring of patient responses, and coordination of referrals, authorizations, and follow-up to support timely and effective treatment. This role requires strong critical thinking, autonomous practice within protocols, and collaboration with providers, pharmacy, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes and a positive infusion experience.

Day Shift
Key Responsibilities Administer specialty IV infusions via peripheral IVs and central lines (PICC, CVC, ports), following facility and evidence-based guidelines.
Coordinate infusion referrals, scheduling, and prior authorizations to ensure timely access to therapy.
Perform ongoing patient assessments; monitor and document patient responses to infusions, vital signs, and potential adverse reactions or complications.
Maintain and troubleshoot IV access devices in accordance with INS/ONS standards and facility policies, including flushing, dressing changes, and line care.
Collaborate with referring providers, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams to clarify orders, adjust plans, and escalate concerns as needed.
Educate patients and families on infusion medications, potential side effects, line care, and post-infusion instructions.
Ensure strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards in all aspects of infusion therapy.
Required Qualifications & Skills Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Alaska or compact; Alaska application required prior to start).
Strong IV and infusion nursing skills; not open to new graduates.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience; prior experience in Infusion, ICU, Oncology, Medical-Surgical, or Home Infusion strongly preferred.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Demonstrated ability to manage high patient volumes, prioritize care, and respond to infusion-related emergencies.
Excellent assessment, documentation, communication, and critical-thinking abilities.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
