Overview

Position:
Nurse 3 (PCN 027110) – open to Alaska Residents only. Please review the residency definition to determine eligibility.

Mission of the Division of the Alaska Pioneer Homes: "Providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath." The Nurse 3 plays a vital role in the care of up to sixty‑five elders at the Sitka Pioneer Home, an assisted‑living facility in Renton, Alaska.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality, person‑centered care to assisted‑living residents in a supportive and compassionate manner.
  • Administer medications and complete clinical tasks in accordance with facility protocols.
  • Offer clinical support to care teams, contributing to the growth, development, and empowerment of staff.
  • Promote assisted‑living philosophy and applicable statutes to enhance resident well‑being.

Working Environment

The role is located at the Sitka Pioneer Home, an assisted‑living home at 120 Katlian Street, Sitka, Alaska. The facility offers a waterfront campus with rose hedges and scenic views.

Who We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent education in nursing and license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
  • Minimum two years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year at the full‑performance level (e.g., prior service as Nurse II, Corrections Nurse II, or Psychiatric Nurse II).
  • Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and preventive health measures.
  • Leadership skills—able to motivate, influence, and adapt styles to varied situations.
  • Accountability—ability to set priorities, delegate work, and comply with established control systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication—clear, persuasive, and audience‑appropriate.
  • Commitment to evidence‑based practice—integrate research and clinical expertise for optimum care.
Additional Required Information
  • Two professional references and three character references with current contact details.
  • Substance to complete background fingerprinting and criminal history screening.
  • Proof of freedom from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with a recent test result.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificates, if available.
