Position: Registered Nurse - $25K Sign on and $10K Relo!

Pay Range: $44.57 - $62.80. Sign‑on bonus up to $25K and relocation assistance up to $10K for qualified hires.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform a variety of nursing care procedures for patients of all ages while complying with provider orders, standards of care, nursing policies and hospital procedures.
  • Work independently to complete assignments, making clinical decisions during scheduled shifts and maintaining complete accountability for all actions.
  • Consult with the manager, supervisor or ancillary departments for difficult situations requiring additional input or resources.
  • React calmly and make sound nursing judgments in emergent situations.
  • Delegate and supervise CNAs/Techs, ensuring proper delegation and supervision.
  • Provide total nursing activities for patients/residents during working hours, ensuring safety and quality of care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with inter‑departmental and other facility personnel to assure nursing services meet patient/resident needs.
  • Assist in developing nursing objectives and standards, and in creating and maintaining nursing procedure manuals, care plans, and policies.
  • Interpret policies and procedures for personnel, patients, visitors, and families; ensure fair and equitable treatment, privacy, and civil rights are upheld.
  • Enforce infection control procedures and isolation techniques; maintain a positive, warm, and personal environment.
  • Assist in training department personnel and make recommendations for training to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) or Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Complete administrative requirements such as necessary forms and reports, then submit them to the CNO/DON.
  • Evaluate and assist in medical, social, psychological, spiritual, restorative, and rehabilitative care plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient/resident care information to protect rights.
  • Evaluate emergencies and determine appropriate emergency measures; apply independent decision‑making regarding nursing care.
  • Complete required record‑keeping forms on admission, discharge, transfer, and other documentation; ensure nursing notes are informative and descriptive.
  • Notify the physician of accidents and complete incident reports; maintain adequate stock levels of medications and supplies.
  • Attend staff/department meetings and workshops as approved; give and receive nursing reports during shift changes.
  • Receive verbal orders from physicians, chart orders, and transcribe them into the electronic medical record, lab slips, MAR, dietary requisitions, etc.
  • Report unsafe conditions or equipment repair needs to the CNO/DON or purchasing agent.
  • Observe, record, and report patient response to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents to the physician.
  • Perform additional duties as deemed necessary or directed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or Diploma).
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state; direct hires must apply for an Alaska license before start date, agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required; must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained biannually.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification preferred (required for ED nurses).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years; high‑risk competency required within 3 months of hire and every year.
  • No prior experience required; acute care, emergency department, and/or long‑term care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines for hospital and long‑term care settings.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non‑professional personnel.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English fluently.
  • Independent decision‑making when warranted by circumstances.
