Registered Nurse - Operating Room - Circulator

Pay Range: $41.66 - $58.69

• Provide professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and evidence‑based practice.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, and monitor patient responses.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
• Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs.
• Deliver culturally responsive, patient‑centered care.
• Coordinate care with providers and interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal outcomes, safety, and positive patient experience.
• Advocate for patient care and assist patients in navigating the healthcare system.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities, maintain required competencies and certifications, and report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions per policy.
• Serve as a circulator nurse by preparing the patient, verifying documentation, ensuring equipment readiness, completing safety checklists, and facilitating communication among the surgical team.
• Support the sterile field by documenting key intraoperative events and maintaining situational awareness.
• Participate in on‑call coverage to support urgent and emergent surgical cases.
• Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff, support orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers, and float to other departments or assignments as needed.

• Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within six (6) months of hire.
• Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
• High‑risk competency required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
• For specialty areas, appropriate specialty‑specific and advanced certifications must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods; perform bending, stooping, and kneeling; work in moderate‑to‑high noise clinical environment.
