Job Description:
The clinical nurse coordinates and performs a variety of nursing care procedures for patients of all ages, requiring professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments; and the ability to work independently in completing assignments. Guidelines include provider's orders; standards of care, nursing policies and procedures manuals, and hospital policies. The nurse supports individuals of all ages and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Promote the SEARHC Seven Standards of Excellence; implement safe, therapeutic and efficient care for patients with multisystem disease and/or complications of treatment.
- Administer age-specific medications and therapeutics; accurately carry out medical and nursing care plans.
- Provide counseling using emotional, intellectual, and psychological supports.
- Accomplish nursing assessment through interviewing, observation, and the nursing process.
- Document reassessments which include laboratory results, diagnostic findings, interdisciplinary notes, and patient observations.
- Participate in patient care conferences as applicable.
- Communicate with staff, patients, significant others, and other members of the healthcare team in a supportive, constructive, and positive manner.
- Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings; participate in unit goal setting.
Requirements:
- Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska.
- Must have BLS and PALS upon hire; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.
- Competency to recognize emergently ill patients and act promptly in emergency situations.
- Ability to implement appropriate nursing therapeutic interventions based on a wide variety of nursing diagnosis, evidence-based practice, and medical and psychosocial disorders.
- Oral and written communication skills; ability to accurately enter and retrieve patient data.
