Infusion Services Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse for Infusion Services provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving infusion therapies, including immunotherapy and chemotherapy. This role involves coordinating treatments, monitoring patient reactions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Administer specialty IV fluids via peripheral or central lines according to physician orders and infusion protocols.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient reactions to medications, treatments, and procedures, reporting findings to referring providers.
- Coordinate and schedule infusion appointments, ensuring timely referrals and communication between departments.
- Educate patients and families on post-discharge care and potential side effects, promoting understanding and compliance.
- Maintain IV access devices such as CVCs and PICC lines, adhering to safety and care guidelines.
- Support staff development and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients.
Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state; application for Alaska license prior to start required.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in oncology, infusion, or specialty care.
- Proficiency in operating infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of infection control, medication pharmacology, and disease processes relevant to infusion therapy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
