Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role requires clinical expertise, independent decision-making, and the ability to adapt to varying patient needs across multiple units.

Responsibilities:

• Administer age-specific medications, therapies, and treatments following provider’s orders and departmental protocols.
• Conduct thorough nursing assessments, including interviewing, observation, and documentation of patient conditions across age groups.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans aligned with scientific principles and patient needs.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care activities, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions, procedures, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and compliance.
• Maintain compliance with infection control standards, confidentiality policies, and professional nursing practices.

Qualifications:

• Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required upon hire.
• One year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, emergency procedures, and patient care standards.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to support team collaboration and patient education.
